Went there the other evening for Covid testing the nurses and the total staff were very professional, I was a little scared to take the test and they made me feel very comfortable in doing so my experience was great.

Patient First Primary and Urgent Care , Chester - 12101 S Chalkley Rd, Chester
I drove up and the parking lot was completely full. My thoughts were that there would be a long wait. Walked in and only a few people in the waiting room. I was checked in within 5 mnutes of my arrival. I was seen within 10 minutes of arriving. The doctor came in within 5 minutes of my being put into a patient area. The doctor (whose name I do not remember and I have thrown away all paperwork) was extremely nice. He reminds me of the doctors that people remark, "He has such a good bedside manner." First impressions with patients really do matter. And he gave a very good first impression. He was professionally and friendly and an excellent communicator. He provided an ancedote on what I was experiencing. That really helped. I have been to this Patient First before and have taken a good friend there. Each time has been a good experience. The staff are nice and each doctor that I have seen is friendly and able to diagnosis the problem. I like this Patient First better than my Primary Care Physician and have even inquired as to using them as my PCP. I was in and out within 30 minutes and recommend them highly.

Patient First Primary and Urgent Care , Genito - 11020 Hull St Rd, Midlothian
It was the best! My husband was very sick, he HATES going to the doctor, so when he asked to make him a doctors appointment, I know it's serious. Since we live so far away I called and got the tele-health visit. Filled out the request, someone called me back almost immediately, my wait time for the doctor was less than 5 minutes and she was wonderful. Will definately use this system again. Hubby is on his way to recovery! Thank you Patient First!

Getting Tested for STDs in Colonial Heights, VA

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or do not consistently use protection. It's also crucial for those who have shared needles or other drug paraphernalia to get tested, as this can also be a method of transmission. Pregnant women should also be tested to prevent passing any potential infections to their baby.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a key part of maintaining your overall health. Many STDs do not show symptoms, meaning you could be infected and not know it. Untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, including infertility, cancer, and organ damage. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of these complications. It also helps prevent the spread of these diseases to others.

Std testing options in Colonial Heights, VA:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are convenient options for STD testing in Colonial Heights. These facilities often offer same-day and next-day appointments, which can be booked through Solv's website and mobile app. One nearby option is the BetterMed Urgent Care in Midlothian, VA, which has a 3.74 rating and is located at 6100 Harbourside Centre Lp.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another reliable source for STD testing. Your regular doctor can provide testing during a routine check-up or you can schedule a specific appointment for this purpose.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also free STD testing options and community health centers available in the area. These facilities often provide testing at reduced or no cost, making it a more accessible option for many individuals.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are an increasingly popular option, offering privacy and convenience. These kits can be ordered online, completed at home, and then sent to a lab for analysis.

Prevalence of STDs in Colonial Heights

According to the CDC, the prevalence of STDs in Colonial Heights, and the broader Prince George County, is consistent with national trends. However, it's important to note that these statistics can vary year by year and are influenced by a range of factors, including testing rates and sexual behavior.

Risk factors related to STDs in Colonial Heights

Risk factors for STDs in Colonial Heights are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include having multiple sexual partners, inconsistent use of protection, and sharing needles or other drug paraphernalia. Other factors that can contribute to the spread of STDs include a lack of access to healthcare and education about safe sex practices.
