Premier Urgent Care, Huber Heights - 8290 Old Troy Pike, Huber Heights
Woke up with a very sudden sore throat as the primary issue. My ears sore, swelling & fatigue. It’s not often I feel ill enough to book an appt with urgent care but this had such a quick onset I didn’t feel wise to wait or push though it. The front desk staff & initial nurse were kind & friendly. The facility was very clean & easily accessible. However, the primary doctor was cold & not very helpful or insightful. I was refused antibiotics even though my ears showed signs of infection. I am an adult in 30s & had a tonsillectomy almost a year ago to improve my health. This past procedure was used as an excuse why I shouldn’t have antibiotics. More of an assumption of being exposed to too much antibiotics, which I do not agree with. Doctor told me to watch out for my ears so they don’t rupture because they are bulging. The only meds prescribed were allergy. Then instructed to rotate pain meds. This is the first time I have felt sick since having tonsils removed & is still new in some ways to navigate. I’m five days past the urgent care appt & feel absolutely miserable. I’ve taken meds as instructed & got worse. My throat & ears have lots of pain. I called the urgent care back to no avail or additional aid beyond suggesting for me come in again, which would charge me again. Luckily my primary care doctor was able to see me. I was diagnosed with a severe ear infection on top of a sinus infection that my body has clearly been fighting hard over. I was prescribed steroids & antibiotics at my primary doctor visit. There was little understanding why urgent care didn’t do this in the first place. Definitely feel that I was not taken seriously at urgent care, so the overall experience was extremely upsetting. Advice would be to resolve what is noticed within very first visit, so whatever is going on doesn’t worsen.

I went in for a fall that happened around 11:00 am was there about 2 hours before I was seen . Needed X-ray that’s why I chose to go there instead of my PCP….Did not know you could make an appointment but my needs were more urgent… not sure why they call it an urgent care? The care was good once I was seen.

Woke up this morning and found a tick buried in my arm. Generally I have no problem removing them. This one left its head in place. Unable to get an appointment with my PCP I went to Urgent Care in Troy. As a walk in check in went smoothly. Wait time was minimal. The staff was attentive and professional. Tick removed and headed home in less than 30 minutes.

Vandalia Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), sexually active women under the age of 25, older women with risk factors like new or multiple sex partners, and men who have sex with men should get tested for chlamydia annually. It's also recommended for pregnant women as untreated chlamydia can lead to severe adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Importance of getting tested

Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) that can cause serious health problems if left untreated, including infertility in women. According to the CDC, most people with chlamydia don't have symptoms, so testing is the only way to know for sure if you have it. Early detection and treatment can prevent these complications.

This trend is in line with national data, which shows an increase in chlamydia cases across the country. However, the rate of chlamydia in Montgomery County is lower than in some nearby counties, like Greene County and Madison County.

Risk factors related to chlamydia in Vandalia

Risk factors for chlamydia include having multiple sex partners, not using condoms consistently, and being under the age of 25. The rise in cases in Montgomery County suggests that these risk factors may be prevalent in the Vandalia area.

In addition to chlamydia, other common STDs in the Vandalia area include gonorrhea, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis. Like chlamydia, these STDs can often be asymptomatic, which makes regular testing crucial. Testing locations like Premier Urgent Care and Quickmed Urgent Care offer testing for these STDs as well.
