Boones Creek Urgent Care - 4100 N Roan St, Johnson City
We often use this facility for urgent care. It's typically not as busy as many of the others, and is convenient to where we live. The staff is cordial, and the waiting area is clean and comfortable. Medical staff is attentive, and take the time to address all your concerns, and answer questions. This time I had to wait in a patient room longer than usual (probably at least 30-40 minutes), so that accounts for my 3***'s. But, like I said, that's not typical! Overall, I would definitely recommend you check this place out when you need urgent care.

Getting Tested for STDs in Bristol, VA

Who should get tested for STDs?

According to the CDC, sexually active individuals, particularly those with multiple partners, should get tested for STDs regularly. This also includes individuals who have engaged in unprotected sex, those who have been diagnosed with an STD in the past, and anyone who has injected drugs. It's important to note that some STDs may not show symptoms initially, making regular testing crucial for early detection and treatment.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is vital for maintaining both your own health and the health of your sexual partners. Early detection can prevent many STDs from causing serious health problems, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. Additionally, knowing your status can help prevent the spread of STDs to others.

Std testing options in Bristol, VA:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are a convenient option for STD testing in Bristol, VA. For example, Foundation Health Urgent Care in nearby Gray, TN, and Boones Creek Urgent Care in Johnson City, TN, both offer STD testing services. These facilities are highly rated and known for their short wait times and friendly staff. Appointments can be booked same-day or next-day through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another option for STD testing. If you're comfortable discussing your sexual health with your primary care doctor, they can provide testing and treatment or refer you to a specialist if necessary.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or with limited income, free STD testing may be available at community health centers in Bristol. It's important to contact these centers directly to verify their services and any costs involved.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing is another option for those who prefer privacy and convenience. These tests can be ordered online, completed at home, and sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available online within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Bristol

While specific data for Bristol, VA is not readily available, the CDC reports that STD rates have been on the rise in Virginia and across the U.S. in recent years. This trend emphasizes the importance of regular testing and safe sexual practices. Comparatively, nearby counties such as Madison County and Raleigh County also report increasing rates of STDs, indicating a broader regional trend.

Risk factors related to STDs in Bristol

Risk factors for STDs in Bristol are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include having multiple sexual partners, engaging in unprotected sex, and using intravenous drugs. It's also worth noting that younger individuals, aged 15-24, account for half of all new STD cases according to the CDC. Therefore, regular testing is particularly important for sexually active individuals in this age group.
