I came in one day without an appoint and waited two hours as a walk-in before I had to leave without being tested. I made an appointment through Quest Lab Testing for the next day, showed up on time, got tested easily and was on my way in 15-20 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Sparkling Clean

I was promptly seen and X-ray taken of my sprained ankle. Cautious doctor arranged for a more detailed MRI where fracture, torn ligaments, and bone tumor discovered. Another Instacare doctor called the same night of my MRI and immediately got me into a boot and referred to a orthopedic surgeon. Excellent care - thank you!

Getting Tested for STDs in Provo, UT

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or are not consistently using protection. This is particularly important for those who have had unprotected sex, shared needles for drug use, or have symptoms of an STD. According to the CDC, certain groups are at a higher risk and should get tested regularly. These include sexually active women under 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with HIV.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, many STDs often do not show symptoms, meaning you could be infected and unknowingly spreading the disease to others. Secondly, early detection and treatment can prevent serious health complications, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Lastly, getting tested helps to control the spread of these diseases in the community.

Std testing options in Provo, UT:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

There are several urgent care and walk-in clinics in Provo that offer STD testing. For example, Medallus Urgent Care in nearby Holladay offers STD testing and has a rating of 4.0 based on 18 reviews. You can book same-day or next-day appointments at these clinics through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another option for STD testing. They can provide comprehensive sexual health services, including STD testing and treatment. If you have a primary care provider, you can discuss your concerns with them and they can guide you on the best course of action.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also community health centers in and around Provo that offer free or low-cost STD testing. These centers aim to provide accessible healthcare services to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing is another option for individuals who prefer privacy or cannot visit a clinic. These tests can be ordered online, done at home, and sent back to a lab for analysis. The results are then sent to you confidentially.

Prevalence of STDs in Provo

STD rates in Provo, Utah County, are a matter of concern. According to the CDC, Utah County has seen a steady increase in STD rates over the past few years, mirroring the national trend. The most common STDs in the area are chlamydia and gonorrhea, but syphilis cases are also on the rise. When compared to nearby counties like White Pine County and Montrose County, Utah County's rates are slightly higher.

Risk factors related to STDs in Provo

Several risk factors contribute to the prevalence of STDs in Provo. These include a lack of comprehensive sex education, reduced access to healthcare services, and high rates of drug use. Furthermore, stigma around STD testing can also deter people from getting tested and treated. It's important to note that anyone who is sexually active is at risk of contracting an STD, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation.
