Great discreet service, scheduled my visit and paid for for the test online not in Showed up at lab, checked in and was seen within minutes. Blood and urine were collected, test results came back quickly within 2 days because I did my test on a Friday. Quick, easy and cheap. Didn't have to wait for a visit to my PCP, and then get referral to lab.

After becoming a patient of Dr. Parsons I immediately recognized that he and his office staff were extremely punctual. His in office, visits are very thorough. He is very patient and welcomes any feedback and questions. During my recent clinical he diagnosed a pancreatic problem. This was done thru examining and questioning. He was proactive in doing referrals which turned out to be the correct diagnosis. During the pandemic I was required to have numerous covid tests prior to procedures. He made sure that my tests were in order and completed in the required timely manner. Dr, Parsons demonstrated his professionalism and compassion by keeping in touch with numerous phone calls. Dr. Parsons is the epitome of a professional physicians physician and I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone. NETA T.

Getting Tested for STDs in Odessa, TX

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This is particularly important for those who have multiple sexual partners, or are in a new sexual relationship. According to the CDC, sexually active women under the age of 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with HIV are at a higher risk and should get tested regularly.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a crucial step in maintaining your overall health. Many STDs do not show symptoms, meaning they can go undetected and untreated, leading to serious health complications like infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. Early detection through testing allows for prompt treatment, reducing the risk of such complications. Additionally, knowing your STD status can help prevent the spread of the disease to others.

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics offer quick and convenient STD testing options. In Odessa, you can visit WesTex Urgent Care or MCH Urgent Care. With Solv, you can easily book same-day or next-day appointments at these clinics.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also conduct STD testing. If you have a regular doctor in Odessa, consider discussing your sexual health and any concerns you may have with them.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or who are unable to afford testing, free STD testing may be available at community health centers in Odessa. It's important to check with each center regarding their testing services and any potential costs.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits are another option. These kits can be ordered online, used in the privacy of your own home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available online within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Odessa

According to the CDC, the prevalence of STDs in Odessa, located in Midland County, TX, is a significant public health concern. While exact figures vary, the rates of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis have been on the rise over the past few years. These trends are consistent with the increasing rates of STDs seen in nearby cities like West Odessa, Gardendale, and Midland, as well as nearby counties such as McCulloch County and Tom Green County.

Risk factors related to STDs in Odessa

Several risk factors contribute to the prevalence of STDs in Odessa. These include high rates of unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and a lack of regular testing. Socioeconomic factors, such as limited access to healthcare and lower education levels, may also play a role. It's important for individuals in Odessa to understand these risks and take appropriate measures, such as regular testing and safe sex practices, to protect their health.
