I came in one day without an appoint and waited two hours as a walk-in before I had to leave without being tested. I made an appointment through Quest Lab Testing for the next day, showed up on time, got tested easily and was on my way in 15-20 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I have been to this facility in the past and also recently and have had wonderful experiences! This.past time I had a little bit of a wait but I did not sign in ahead and I think that would’ve improved matters. The care I received took care of my problem and they even called to check on me TWICE! The doctor was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend Doctors Care Walk-In in Little River, SC.

I'm an RN and I don't like very many doctors. My first appointment with Dr. Weston was very impressive. He was extremely knowledgeable about my complicated medical history. He was thorough in explaining all my questions and concerns. His compassion with my "taking care of myself" was appreciated beyond words. I have never felt rushed or as if Dr. Weston wasn't completely listening to me. I completely trust Dr. Weston's evaluation and judgment. I could not have chosen a better provider. I've never had a problem with any staff member, but then again, my husband says I'm friendly. It doesn't take much, even when you're sick.

This clinic has shorter than average waiting periods

Short Wait Time

I saw Dr. Hunter during the first week of January 2019 on a Sunday. He was professional yet certainly friendly enough, thorough, and also knowledgeable about various medications including rarely used ones with their historical dosages and other history. A really great doctor! Very pleased to know that he is practicing in the Surfside Beach area.

Getting Tested for STDs in North Myrtle Beach, SC

Who should get tested for STDs?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), anyone who is sexually active should consider regular STD testing. This is particularly important for individuals who have multiple sexual partners, those who engage in unprotected sex, or those who suspect they may have been exposed to an STD. It's also crucial for pregnant women to get tested, as untreated STDs can cause serious health complications for both the mother and baby.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a critical part of maintaining your sexual health. Many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning they present no symptoms, making regular testing the only way to detect them. Early detection through testing can prevent serious health complications such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Moreover, knowing your STD status can help protect your sexual partners from potential exposure.

STD testing options in North Myrtle Beach, SC

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics offer an accessible option for STD testing in North Myrtle Beach. These facilities often provide same-day and next-day appointments, which can be booked through Solv’s website and mobile app. One such location is the Beach Family and Urgent Care, which is known for its short wait times, friendly staff, and clean facilities.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another viable option for STD testing. They can provide comprehensive sexual health services, including STD testing and treatment. If you have a longstanding relationship with a primary care provider, this can be a comfortable and convenient option.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or those seeking confidential testing, free STD testing may be available at community health centers. However, it's important to note that availability may vary, and some centers may offer sliding scale fees based on income rather than completely free services.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits have become increasingly popular due to their convenience and privacy. These kits can be ordered online, used in the privacy of your own home, and then sent back to a lab for testing. Results are typically available within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in North Myrtle Beach

North Myrtle Beach, located in Brunswick County, SC, has seen a steady increase in STD cases over the years. According to the CDC, Brunswick County's STD rates are higher than the national average, with chlamydia and gonorrhea being the most commonly reported infections. This trend mirrors the overall increase in STD rates across the United States.

Risk factors related to STDs in North Myrtle Beach

Several factors contribute to the high STD rates in North Myrtle Beach. These include a lack of sexual health education, limited access to healthcare services, and socioeconomic factors such as poverty and drug use. Additionally, the city's popularity as a tourist destination may also contribute to higher rates of STDs due to increased sexual activity.
