I came in scared because I coughed up blood in the morning. The staff made me feel much more comfortable and we’re so friendly. Tracey the nurse practitioner comforted me and assured me that it’s okay to be scared but that I would feel much better soon. Thank you so much to the entire staff for helping me.

I came in one day without an appoint and waited two hours as a walk-in before I had to leave without being tested. I made an appointment through Quest Lab Testing for the next day, showed up on time, got tested easily and was on my way in 15-20 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I was so impressed with my first visit that I wanted to write a review. The place was so clean, yet warm and welcoming. Each staff member was very attentive and so very pleasant with me. I had Robert Valley MD and he was excellent. He was caring, sweet and I just wish he had his own practice. Gosh, I adore him. I was treated and my scripts were sent to my pharmacy while I was checking out. He knew exactly how to treat my ailment and had me feeling better within hours. I will definitely go back there if I ever have the need. I strongly recommend this office!

Getting Tested for STDs in New Castle, PA

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, regardless of their age, gender, or sexual orientation. This is particularly important for those with multiple sexual partners, those who do not consistently use protection, and those who share needles for drug use. According to the CDC, sexually active women under 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with HIV should get tested more frequently due to higher risk factors.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for both individual and public health. Early detection and treatment can prevent serious health complications, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. It also helps to prevent the spread of STDs to others. According to the CDC, many STDs are asymptomatic, meaning they do not show symptoms, so testing is the only way to know for sure if you have an STD.

Std testing options in New Castle, PA:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are convenient options for STD testing in New Castle, PA. These facilities often offer same-day appointments, and you can book your appointment through Solv’s website and mobile app. Quickmed Urgent Care in nearby Youngstown, OH is a highly rated option with two locations available.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another option for STD testing. They can provide comprehensive care and follow-up treatment if needed. However, appointments may not be available on the same day.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Free STD testing is available at community health centers in and around New Castle, PA. These centers provide confidential testing, but availability may vary, and some may require proof of income.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits are another option. These kits can be purchased online or at a local pharmacy, and they allow you to collect a sample at home and send it to a lab for testing.

Prevalence of STDs in New Castle

New Castle, located in Lawrence County, PA, has seen a steady increase in STD rates over the past few years, mirroring national trends. According to the CDC, the most commonly reported STDs in the area are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Rates in New Castle are slightly lower than nearby counties such as Fayette County and Erie County, but higher than Franklin County and Lycoming County.

Risk factors related to STDs in New Castle

Several factors contribute to the prevalence of STDs in New Castle. These include a lack of comprehensive sex education, reduced access to healthcare, and socioeconomic factors such as poverty and drug use. The CDC also notes that stigma and privacy concerns can prevent individuals from seeking testing and treatment. It's important to remember that anyone who is sexually active is at risk for STDs, and regular testing is the best way to protect your health and the health of your partners.
