Great discreet service, scheduled my visit and paid for for the test online not in Showed up at lab, checked in and was seen within minutes. Blood and urine were collected, test results came back quickly within 2 days because I did my test on a Friday. Quick, easy and cheap. Didn't have to wait for a visit to my PCP, and then get referral to lab.

Sparkling Clean

My eye was almost swollen shut from poison ivy, so I went in. She told me right off there would probably be around a 45 minute wait because of two other cases there, which I appreciated being told up front! Mine wasn’t an emergency so it was fine. When it was my turn to go in, it was only a few minutes before the doctor came in...They were so nice (and I wish I was better with remembering names) and the doctor made sure everything else was ok and wasn’t rushing me through. I would recommend this place....I appreciated their kindness and efficiency!

Getting Tested for STDs in Mount Vernon, OH

Who should get tested for STDs?

Any sexually active individual should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This is particularly true for those who have multiple sexual partners, engage in unprotected sex, or have symptoms of an STD. Even individuals in monogamous relationships should get tested to ensure they are healthy and not unknowingly transmitting an STD to their partner. According to the CDC, certain groups, such as men who have sex with men, people with HIV, and women under the age of 25, should get tested more frequently due to higher risk factors.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial in maintaining your overall health and the health of your sexual partners. Many STDs are asymptomatic, meaning they show no symptoms, so you could be infected and not know it. Early detection through testing allows for prompt treatment, reducing the risk of severe health complications such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. Regular testing also helps prevent the spread of STDs in the community.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those with limited financial resources, free STD testing is available at community health centers. However, it's important to note that these centers may have longer wait times due to high demand.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits are also available for those who prefer privacy and convenience. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available online within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon, located in Knox County, OH, has seen a rise in STD cases over the years, mirroring the national trend. Comparatively, the rates of STDs in Mount Vernon are lower than in nearby counties such as Fayette County and Indiana County. However, the increasing trend underscores the importance of regular STD testing for sexually active individuals in the area.

Risk factors related to STDs in Mount Vernon

Several risk factors contribute to the spread of STDs in Mount Vernon. These include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and lack of regular testing. Additionally, societal factors such as stigma around STD testing and lack of sexual health education can also contribute to the spread of STDs. It's crucial to address these risk factors through education and access to testing and treatment services.
