Dirty and Unprofessional
I started a new job and could not take time off of work to go to the doctor for help with my illness, so I decided to go to the Bloomfield Urgent Care facility.
When I walked in, I noticed a wrinkled up tissue and a box of tissues on two of the waiting room chairs. I continued to the reception window and she asked me what I wanted. I said I would like to see a doctor. She said “what for.” I continued to explain my symptoms and she had me fill out some paper work (not professional at all – “what for” she says – what about “what problems are you having or symptoms do you have” - (isn’t this a medical faclility?). I then waited to be called into an exam room. While I was waiting in the waiting room, a call came in and the receptionist answered the call. I heard hear yell to someone, who I later learned was the APRN on duty, and ask, “Do we do boosters?” The APRN yelled back, “What kind of booster.” The receptionist got back on the phone and asked the person, “What kind of booster.” The person obviously answered that they did not know and the receptionist yelled back to the APRN that they did not know. The APRN then yelled back, is it for school, is it for an MMR? The receptionist got back on the phone and said that they could come in the next day from 10 a.m. – whatever time she told them they do them until.
How unprofessional is this. You have sick people in the waiting room, your employees are yelling back and forth to each other, another one walked out before 7 p.m. and another medical assistant asked where he was and the receptionist told her that he had left. She was surprised and seemed agitated by it. She was scrumbling around looking for some phone number on a piece of paper she could not find.
Finally, after 15 minutes after the only other patient had left the office, I was called in to the exam room – for another 15 minute wait; unreasonable for having no other patients in the waiting room. As I sat in the examining room waiting for the doctor (and I was examined by an APRN, not a dr. – I believe there was no doctor on the premises), I notices the dirt and uncleanliness of the room. I saw dirt and paper on the floor where the wall meets the floor, as I gazed up, I saw a multitude of dead bugs in the light covers.
This is not a clean place or organized place to go for medical treatment, nor does it have professionals working there. I will say that the APRN was o.k., the others and the cleanliness of the facility was disgraceful.
To top things off, the APRN sent my prescriptions to CVS. I stopped there and picked them up and went home. The one main problem I had was not being able to breathe well. One of the prescriptions was an inhaler. Once I got home, I opened my packages and there was no inhaler. I called CVS and asked if maybe they forgot to put it in my bag. They checked and said there was no prescription for an inhaler. Well, it was 8:10 p.m. and the Urgent Care center had closed. I went the night without an inhaler and was miserable.
The next morning on my way to work, I stopped at the Urgent Care office and spoke with the receptionist and told her that CVS never received the inhaler prescription. She asked me her name and I said Suzanne Todd. She looked down by the printer, which was by the receptionist’s window and said, “there it is, it was printed.” I said, “what good is that if is isn’t sent to the pharmacy for me to pick up?” I was very upset and asked if there were some samples in the office for an inhaler that they could give me until I could pick up my prescription after work today. She said, “let me go ask the dr.” So 15 minutes or so, I got back up and stood at the window and the dr. opened the door and said “Suzanne Todd?” I responded yes and stepped inside the door area and explained to her my disappointments and their lack of responsibility and professionalism and cleanliness. She was very apologetic and I said that that doesn’t change anything. I told her I would never come there again and I would make sure I would let everyone I know about the facility and how unclean and unprofessional it is.
