Professional Driver Healthcare Issues

The video below defines the healthcare issues faced by the millions of professional truck drivers in the United States. A few of the highlights are as follows:

  • 80% of professional truck drivers are obese
  • 50% of truck drivers suffer from sleep apnea
  • 65% of drivers do not have a primary care physician

Each of these healthcare issues could be exacerbated by the US Department of Transportation's (DOT) new regulations, but Urgent Care Travel has proposed an interesting solution: urgent care clinics at truck stops and travel centers.

While the DOT is certain to have on-boarded many more Certified Medical Examiner by the May 2014 deadline, Urgent Care Travel is the only urgent care or walk-in clinic company placing healthcare access directly in the routes of professional drivers.

    Angels on Earth

Hi, I am a truck driver and I had been sick for several days and was really needing to see a Dr. But being an over-the-road driver it is VERY hard for us to be able to get somewhere to get medical help. We have to find somewhere to park then get a taxi to take us to an office, then to the pharmacies, then back to our trucks. This can be very expensive on top of just getting to get the care we need. I was so appreciative of finding one of your facilities in Knoxville, TN. I got excellent care from Ms. Patricia Smith and her assistant. They were able to diagnose me and I was able to get the medicines right there on site. GOD bless all of you for the facilities. You will never know how much truck drivers NEED these. I THANK YOU ALL. GOD BLESS
    Thanks for being there
