Think Carefully Before Using This Urgent Care Location

I went here after 36 hours of vomiting and diarrhea and the diagnosis was constipation. I was told to take some Miralax, and sent home.

When I say "sent home" I mean that both the doc and the nurse told me that I could go to the emergency room for additional tests, but they both actively discouraged me from doing so. Bad call. Not only was I in the emergency room that same day, I was admitted with acute pancreatitis and in the hospital for days.

It would have been more appropriate to tell me that there were additional test that could be done at the ER in order to rule out any more serious condition, and let me make the decision about my care. I had a gut feeling (excuse the pun) that this was not constipation, but, silly me, I trusted them to give me sound direction.

They actually called me to ask how I liked their service while I was still hospitalized. I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked for a refund of my copay. The issue is not a lousy diagnosis; it is unprofessional advice to a patient that resulted in misery for me. I was told they would call me about the refund after I was out of the hospital. No one called, and after two calls from me to follow up and getting assurances that a person who could make the call would me, I have yet to hear from them. I told the office staff that I did not want to do exactly what I am doing right now; that I wanted to resolve the issue with them. By not extending the courtesy of calling me back, the medical staff here are getting this public review because of their own disregard for a patient.

In the future I will go to an emergency room if I feel I have something worse than a hang nail. My confidence in UPMC urgent care is shot.

Go to the emergency room instead...total waste of time and unprofessional!.

I dragged myself out of bed to get cough medicine to suppress a nasty cough. I did not see a DR. only a PA. I told him that I had hurt my ribs and stomach muscles from coughing so much and it was so painful to cough, as my ribs and stomach muscles were going into l spasms. I told the PA that I needed codeine cough syrup because it is the only kind of cough syrup that will suppress the cough and doesn't make me sick. He left the room and came back with a prescription. I took it to the pharmacy only to find out that not only was it an over the counter cough syrup, it also was not going to be covered under my insurance.
I was completely disgusted and called the center to see if he had made a mistake. He was condescending and said that he couldn't write a codeine cough medication prescription. I was so angry, I told him that is why I had gone there and he should have sent in a Dr who could.

I will never go there again!!!! I went to an Urgi Care in Fla last year when I got sick and had a terrible cough and there was no problem? I am going to complain to medicare about this, as I certainly didn't need a prescription for an over the counter ineffective cough syrup!!!!

WASTE OF TIME...PA WAS CONDESCENDING AND UNSYMPATHETIC

I desperately needed a cough syrup to totally suppress my cough, as my ribs and stomach muscles hurt so badly with every cough. After coughing for two days, I really needed a cough suppressant with codeine, as that is the only kind of cough medicine that works!!! I was very clear about that with the PA and when he brought me a prescription, that is what I thought I was getting.I went right to the pharmacy, only to discover that it was an over the counter cough syrup and my insurance wouldn't pay for it. I was so upset that I thought there was a mistake. I called the PA and he gave me a bunch of double talk about how he couldn't write a codeine cough med prescription, etc. I asked him why he didn't take it to the Dr and he just danced around my question. I have never had this happen to me before! And, I will never go back there! Luckily, I still have a small amount of cough syrup left fro when I was sick like this the last time.
The PA was unprofessional and rude!!!

    Rude

X-ray technician is very rude. We were waiting for the results of my foot X-ray, when she walked into the exam room shoved papers at me and said "Your foot is not broken theses are your discharge instructions." And I was dismissed like my foot pain did not matter to them at all. They never offered me a comfort wrap, ice, I never saw the doctor to discuss a diagnosis. I will definitely be reporting this visit to quality assurance department.

Paid copay to be told what I already knew....

After s perfunctory once over by a nurse I was given the diagnosis that I had a painful knee . My knee and leg are swollen and I can barely walk, I have an appt with an orthopedist in two days and I'm confident a more comprehensive diagnosis other than painful knee, will be forthcoming.
Is this how UPMC ends fiscal year with BILLIONS in profit? I chose utgicare rather than an ER so heart attack patients, accident victims and small children needing emergency care could receive care. Now I had a $50.00 copay plus I'll have to pay copay for specialist and I still have s "sore knee" Nurse was pladsmy but said she really didn't know the source of my pain, swelling and problem, Should have been given a refund and sent to ER
