    Patient

Poor customer service. P.A. sent script to pharmacy. The 2 scrips I needed were on bsck order. Pharmacy called Patient first for another 2 scrips. Waited 2 hours for scrips and found out they were waiting fo P.A. to call back. I called and was told P.A was seeing patients. I am a patient who pays P.A's salary. Took 4 hours and 2 trips to get scrips that did NOTHING. Go somewhere else.

    Not Good

I would not recommend this place. The staff does not listen to the patients and when they take blood it takes them 3-4 times to get it right. I was diagnoised with a life threatening condition yet they would not listen to my concerns nor did they even care. I was surprised because at first they seemed nice but as time went on they showed their true colors. I am convinced that they just made all that up so I would have to keep coming back so they could make money off of me. If anyone does decide to go and they tell you that you have a certain condition, go get a 2nd opinion. I do not trust these people at all.

Very Bad service and Billing department

It is good facility with horrible service. Always will be billing to incorrect Insurance and will charge the credit card. When you call their Patient account dept no body will pick the call you keep waiting for 10-15 minutes and then you will cut the phone obviously. So again you have to go to their facility to sort the issue. Also they charge too much much more than required looks like they are very greedy.

I had been here twice and Will Never go again.

Run If Assigned to Dr. LaFon

On Saturday, 24 March 2018 at approximately 11:48 am, I fell down my front porch stairs due to water run off from the rough of my home freezing on the wood. Although in a lot of pain at the time, I felt my pride more bruised than my buttocks, so continued about my day, which included an activity I find somewhat normal, a brunch with my girlfriends at 12:30 pm, where I will readily admit to having three mimosas over the course of the two and a half hour long lunch experience. While this may seem a lot of unnecessary information for this review, I ensure you that my afternoon activity will become relevant as this review continues.

As happens with these kinds of traumas, the pain became worse throughout the day; I had developed a migraine as the day progressed as well. One of my side effects from migraines is nausea and vomiting, so those were present as well. By 7:30 pm, my boyfriend had convinced me to be taken to the Patient First clinic. I had been to this clinic before and spoke high praises of them when they assessed my pneumonia last November, so I agreed to go, even though I felt that this was probably still just a very bad contusion best treated with rest, icy hot, and over the counter pain relief.

Upon arriving at Patient First after a 45 minute drive (I live in Mount Airy and we had to stop twice because the car ride was making me sick), everyone on the admitting staff and triage nurses were very lovely and patient, asking appropriate questions, offering me a bag to vomit in should I need, and trying to see if they could find me something to help counteract the nausea. I will also at this point acknowledge that I was not looking my best. The act of putting on clothes over a bruise that is now 14” long by 4.5” wide was difficult, so I probably looked a hot mess coming in there in yoga pants, a tee shirt, with blood shot eyes. However, my appearance should not dictate the type of service I receive and I feel that the treatment I got from Dr. LaFon was based solely on his predisposition to me.

When he finally came to the room after over 45 minutes of waiting, I had left to go to the bathroom. My boyfriend told him I would be right back and gave him a quick rundown of the situation. At this point, he rolled his eyes and stalked off. I returned to the room and waited an additional half hour, all the while asking if I could have some tylenol or something to help with the headache/lower back pain. When he finally came back in, he told me that he wouldn’t address the nausea/headache. He asked to see the bruise, so I allowed him to. He then jammed it with his fingers which caused an expletive utterance to come out of me. While not my finest moment, I’m sure that most people who get cold, ungloved fingers jammed into a swollen spot on their rear end would have had the same reaction. Dr. LaFon then proceeded to tell me that the problem was not the large blossoming bruise or the severe pain I was in, but the fact that I had ‘drinks at lunch’. His exact words were ‘the need to drink at lunch is your problem’. He then refused treatment, slammed shut the door the computer was behind, and stalked out of the room. I said to my boyfriend we could just come back tomorrow, to which Dr. LaFon replied ‘well I’ll be here tomorrow and I still won’t treat you’.

At this point, I left the building because now, in addition to my rump and pride being bruised, I have been treated like an animal by a doctor when coming for help. I have no idea what my boyfriend said at this point in the office, but he received your card from the very apologetic admitting staff and the doctor’s full name from the nurse on duty. We were also advised to not only reach out to you, but to make comments about this treatment on social media, which I have done and will continue to do. Clearly, this is not an isolated incident if the staff is advising us to take action against the doctor.

At no point did Dr. LaFon ask for any medical history on me. He never bothered to find out that I suffer from diagnosed migraine disorders, that I have an autoimmune disease called Celiac, that I had a splenectomy in 2008, all of which may contribute to the nausea and vomiting. A basic google search of blows to the lower torso also indicates that trauma to this area can increase the risk of vomiting, but that was never a consideration because clearly, three drinks 8 hours previous is the issue. I am a college educated woman. I have an executive level job. And due to the treatment I received, I have never felt so dehumanized in my life.

Now it is Monday morning, 26 March 2018. I am still nauseous, my back and lower end are in so much pain that I can barely sit or lie down, and I have no faith in seeing another urgent care doctor because of this treatment. I am also enraged that I still have to pay for this treatment, that my insurance has to give him money for essentially calling me a useless piece of **** drunk. This type of service is deplorable.

I have reported this incident to the home office and the governing board of physicians for the state of Maryland as well. No one deserves to be treated this way. I will also not let this matter die because NO ONE deserves this type of treatment, even if they were the most falling down drunk that has ever stumbled into a clinic.

For the wait time, I could've gone to the ER.

The assistant came right away, took vitals and said "the Doctor will be in to see you shortly"! Too bad shortly was over an hour.

    Don't go here!

I went to this place since I live only 5 minutes from here and didn't think it would be crowded...it wasn't but their computers weren't working so after being the only patient there and having to wait at least 40 minutes a person enters and doesn't introduce himself as the doctor. Then he speaks to me abruptly as though I am at fault for the computers. Sure enough, it was a deer tick that was burrowing above my outer ear that could have been removed as soon as I got there. I will never return to this inefficient place with an egotistical physician.

    Thanks for NOTHING!!!

My husband visited this so called medical establishment while our regular doctor was on vacation. NEVER AGAIN! The man was sick several days and while he could no longer sleep due to the cough he decided to go. Because he had no "fever" the female doctor said he did not have an infection however he told her he was taking over the counter cold tablets and Tylenol which does bring down a fever. He looked sick and any normal person could have seen that. Then they gave him a flu shot...on top of already being sick. It was a waste of $75 for this place and he only got sicker. After he finally got some good medical help and antibiotics he started coming around. Did this doctor even have a degree???

    Never seen doctor

Took my son in for a sprained ankle, checking in was quick and getting an xray was as well. I believe it only took about 15 minutes. We never seen the doctor, he was to busy on his computer, too busy digging through a box and too worried about another patient, that wasnt there being seen at this time. The dr. came in and said I will be with you in 2 minutes but if I get a call Im gonna have to leave, oh and he said with no care, I didnt look at the xray, what can I do for ya? Just as my son was about to tell him about his ankle, he was called out and just left. We decided this dr. obviously did not care if he made it to my son or not. We waited with patience and decided to leave. I went to check out, said we are leaving and that we were never seen by the dr. One nurse, looked at me like I was the rude one for leaving. I will never go there again and waste my time because this dr. wasnt professional at all!

    Misdiagnosed

Went with my daughter to get checked for bad chest and back pain with cough, face pain with fever. At the time of the apt she did not have a fever..Daughter is asthmatic. Dr. thought she had the flu but was tested and it came back negative. Was told it was viral and sent home to take mucinex. She was visiting from Philly. By next morning she had become worse and went to see her own dr who diagnosed her with sinus infection (hence the pain) and asthmatic bronchitis (hence the pain again with coughing) and out of work for a few days. It was not busy at the time my daughter was there. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The dr. needs to do a better thorough examination of his patients especially if they are asthmatic or learn how to recognize symptoms in patients with asthma who are experiencing bronchitis. Never again will I recommend or step into that medicial facility again.

    Not worth it.

By far the worst service I've encountered. Not only do they have you wait for an hour, the doctors are very unprofessional and hardly know what they're talking about. It's all about money with them. I went because I developed bronchitis and they tried telling me it was a common cold. I went to the hospital immediately after and they even stated I have very severe bronchitis and finally gave me the medication I needed. Won't ever be going back to that place again. Waste of time and money.

I have to say this is the worst place I have ever been to. I was waiting 3 hours just to be seen and all I wanted was a follow up which took 2 minutes and a note that said I need to stay out of work longer.

    Two separate issues

Hurt my elbow , of course it was a Saturday.. thought it was a strain but felt it best to have it looked at. Went to Patient First, was seen by a doctor and had an x-ray performed. Was told it was definitely nothing serious, just a bruise.. was given a sling and told to take it easy the rest of the weekend, ice it, and, barring any real downturn, go back to my very physical job on Monday. I was provided a hard disk of the x-ray.
Monday - my arm still really hurt and I had the gut feeling it was more than what was diagnosed at Patient First. I went to an orthopedic doctor (same day appointment!) where they reviewed the x-ray already taken. They told me it was obvious to them that I had a pretty severe tendon tear that may require surgery and referred me to a specialist out of the area! Long story short -- it WAS a tendon tear requiring surgery and 4 months out of work.
Funny how the exact same x-ray was interpreted as a 'bruise' by Patient First.
I made the decision then that I would only go here for something like a cold, earache, etc.. and certainly nothing else!

Wife had a minor issue, again on a weekend! and she decided to try Patient First. I know -- it was Saturday late in the afternoon... I expected it to be somewhat busy. There were about 10 people in the waiting room when we arrived. We did the self check-in and took a seat. There were 2 employees doing the formal check-ins. One of them had the same person at her desk when we arrived and when we walked out 40 minutes later. The other was chatting it up with the patient like they were old friends catching up on years of news. We sat for awhile watching all this and ended up leaving as it was not an emergency. We went to another facility in the morning and that worked out fine.

    Shame on you..Bad buisness

So my son hurt his foot (I'm suspecting it's broken ) he is having a lot of pain and swelling so I decide to take him to Patient First as it was kinda late on Friday I didn't want to expose him for hours in an ER for an xray. I get there go through the registration process only for them to tell me Oh you have a past due bill for yourself (me not my minor child) so we need you to pay 300 dollars before we can see him. Mind you my son has insurance. They called a nurse to triage him and I was told to take him to another urgent care or his pcp. Mind you I work for a doctor's office/urgent care and we never turn a patient away. I find it ridiculous that my minor child was refused treatment because a bill that I had for myself from over 2 years ago that I never knew about. That's fine I will take him to St Joseph Urgent care and will never return to this facility. I'm all about paying my bills but why punish a child and refuse treatment for something that has nothing to do with him. That is bad business and bad health care. Shame on you Patient First. If I could give no stars I would...

    Efficient AND empathetic

I had a very pleasant experience despite the fact that my 4 year old woke up very sick on a Saturday am. In, X-rayed, out with antibiotic and child back in bed in just 1hr 15min. Each person with whom we interacted was pleasant, upbeat and sweet despite the fact that he/she was working early on a rainy Saturday. Appreciated the excellent bedside manner!

    Convenient and Caring

Being 2800 miles from home and finding such a great facility that accepted my insurance was very comforting.
Arriving 30 minutes before closing and leaving well after they were closed, the staff was very efficient without making me feel like I was inconveniencing them. Being able to get the two prescribed medications from the clinic saved me from having to find a 24 hour pharmacy.

    Bad Doctor Experience

I usually go to the Patient First in Columbia which is great, but out of convenience I went to this one instead. Instead of listening in depth to what I had to say, the doctor dismissed my symptoms as a fault of my own and refused to help me. I left shocked and without any help or answers to my symptoms. The front desk people were very nice and helpful though.

Don't bother if you need dermabond

Am from out of state and took my son in for treatment of a laceration below the eyebrow he received in a basketball game. Physicians assistant said they do not suture in that area and said she was afraid she would damage his eye or leave a bad scar if she tried. She said it needed dermabond (glue) but Patients First does not use Dermabond . I asked if an MD would look at it and she talked to him and he said he wouldn't suture it either so after being there for about 2 hours we had to take him to an ER and wait another 3 hours for the doctor to suture him. He also needed an Xray of his foot which they did and was fine. PA was nice but was limited to what she could do for my son due to policy. Would not go back.

    Never Again

I went to this office after work. There weren't very many people there and I thought I hit the jack pot. I went to the back, got x-rays and waited on a doctor or someone to come for 2 hours... no one came and I left. When the x-ray tech realized I had not been seen, he went to get the PA. She appeared from the back and looked at me with attitude. I decided seeing a PA with a bad attitude was just not a good deal for me, so I left without seeing someone. The worst experience at a doctors office I have ever had. Please go to another office and not this one. I would have been better off in the ER.
