About Healthcare Clinic at Walgreens

Walgreens is one of the oldest pharmacies in the United States, and was founded in 1901 in Chicago. Today, the company operates more than 8,175 stores in every American state and territory.

The first Walgreens clinic, mostly known today as Healthcare Clinic at Walgreens, was offered in the fall of 2006, beginning in Delaware, and expanding to other states including Kansas and Illinois, as well as Georgia. Today, there are Walgreens Clinics in more than 400 different Walgreens locations in 20+ states.

Most Walgreen Clinics originated as Take Care Clinics, but then re-branded to become the Healthcare Clinic at Walgreens. Today, many Walgreens clinics are being co-ventured with local market healthcare providers and co-branded within specific market areas.

Some other Walgreens clinics are operated by local health care providers, such as Advocate Clinic in Illinois, and Providence Express Care in Portland.

    Should Lose Medical License

    Letter I sent to Manager:
    Hi, Meralis,

First, I should let you know that the business card I was handed for you is the wrong telephone number, and so was unable to contact you via phone.

Second, I did not get the chance to get the correct spelling of the practicioner I spoke with (because she slammed the door in my face when I told her what the lady from the Rosemont call center told me), but I know it was something similar to P. Karehan, or P. Karahan.
She needs to lose her license to practice medicine, immediately.

She refused my insurance for the service I'd scheduled days earlier - for which I'd provided my insurance information, and no attempt at communication to inform me of this was made until I got there that you refuse insurance for physicals.

I explained to her that I need the physical form by tomorrow, (which is why I made the appointment for today), or else I will lose my job.

I asked her for ANY form of documentation as evidence that I was present at the time of appointment, in hopes that I may be able to get an extension on my physical so that I won't lose my job, and become unemployed without any insurance.

She outright refused, and continued to simply refuse any form of documentation, raising her voice, not giving me information she'd promised about another physician who might help, arguing things which were untrue (such as: that my insurance was not refused as coverage for the service I'd requested; that the operator at Walgreens Headquarters in Rosemont wasn't calling her office - after she'd tried four times and the phone didn't ring; and slamming the door in my face because she didn't like what the lady in the Rosemont call center told me to do as documentation after P. Karahen (sp?) had refused to talk to the call center on my phone when hers was found to not be working.)
I asked for a copy of the documentation that I'd refused the appointment & treatment which she needs to somehow document, anyway - since you wouldn't accept my insurance for it - which has my name and insurance info on it and is therefore part of my medical records, which I have legal right to. She continued to refuse, knowing that she was causing me harm as she was doing this.

She eventually handed me a card with your name on it, which has the incorrect phone number. I reached the voicemail of someone with a different name. Either this was neglectful or deceitful. Either way, it was unprofessional.

Basically, she refused to take any professional responsibility for her position and duties, and broke the first rule of Medicine: Do No Harm.

She is knowingly causing me to be unemployed, which will cause me great harm - as I've already been homeless, and this job was my chance to get out.

She not only needs to be terminated from your medical group, but she needs to be put up for ethical review and lose her license as a medical professional because she made it obvious she intends to cause harm to people who reached out for her help.

I expect to hear back from you as soon as possible, as to how to resolve this; which ethics board I need to document this with; and (the initial reason this was a problem) why you refuse my insurance after taking the information, and did not inform me you wouldn't take it ahead of the appointment, along with documentation that I showed up for the appointment before 5pm on 9/13/17 at the Advocate Medical Group in the Walgreens at 1601 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago, IL.

If I need to petition Walgreens for the Pharmacy security tapes, I will take it that far. My basic survival, including avoiding starvation, is dependent upon this documentation.

Regardless of whether or not I hear back from you tomorrow, I will be writing poor reviews of this experience, so that others do not need go through the same. I will also be contacting others higher in the Advocate Medical Organization to report this matter.

This causes me great harm, and she knew she was doing so.
I'm not going to quietly starve to death simply because she wanted to be rude.

    Sincerely,
    A.Kay Wyatt

    WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

I had the worst experience ever at the St. Charles, IL Take Care Clinic. So today I go to the Walgreen Care Clinic to get my daughter her chicken pox booster. So I wait for an 1 hour and 45 mins with ONE person in front of us (I think she took an hour lunch between there). After walking around Walgreens with 2 small kids for an 1 hour and 45 mins I finally see the Assistant walking to the desk. I tell her that I have been waiting for 1 hr and 45 mins, and she only needs the shot. This woman verbally attacks me...I am not even kidding when I say, leaning over, red face, yelling at me..."I am ONLY ONE PERSON! I refuse to give you a shot. Get out of MY clinic!" The first thought was to call the police, I seriously didn't know what to do. So, I begged her, (this was all in front of 10 people who were waiting for prescriptions, etc) literally, "No, please, please," I said.."Please we have been waiting so long." Although, I knew I wasn't be genuine, it got her in. But, she seriously made me cry..I was crying I was so upset, which is not something I really ever do. She called her in, took 30 seconds to give her the shot. She handed me the paper, and I told her to never ever talk to me like that again. She proceeded to tell me to "Get out of MY clinic." I will not stop until something happens with my complaint..ever.

It's a waste of time and money

Terrible experience. My husband was at the Libertyville clinic two days ago and tested positive for influenza B. I began coming down with something just over 12 hours ago and went to the Round Lake Beach clinic. The nurse practitioner wouldn't prescribe tamiflu even though that is the CDC's protocol. She'd rather I be completely and utterly ill then prescribe a drug used to both treat and PREVENT the flu. She did admit that I would have been given the drug had I been with my husband at the Libertyville location 2 days ago. Her logic for not giving it to me was that it was too late and I wouldn't come down with it...huh? The flu has a 1-4 day incubation period. My husband has been sick for 4 days and I came down with it on the 3rd. This place is a joke.

This practitioner whose name i will not mention, refused to see my husband with flu because she had to take a three hour lunch, we got there at 12:30 literally and she said I'm sorry we cannot see you until 3:30 because we are going to lunch. Wow Wow Wow,

    Fast and easy!

Just left the South Milwaukee clinic. What a good experience! Almost no wait, wonderful staff, prescription filled immediately, back home in under 45 minutes! When you're feeling crummy, the last thing you want to do is hang around waiting. Very grateful!

    HORRABLE

This was the worst place I have ever went. If you want to pay someone to check you BP and vital signs and that is it then go ahead. I would rather not. Worst experience in a walk in clinic ever.

If only I had been seen

My husband called Barnhart Walgreens to make sure they were open due to the snow conditions. They told us they were open and to come up. We arrived at 1:15, and we're told that they were not accepting anymore patients for the day. We talked to someone who worked there who was condescending and unprofessional. We commented that we didn't see any patients there, and she responded that they were at lunch and then raised her voice and sarcastically stated that "We are booked and not taking any more people, turned and walked away". I understand, I guess, that you are full but have some compassion to say your sorry or offer a suggestion, but don't be rude. We went a little farther to St Anthony's Urgent Care where they take patients from 8-8 and don't stop or treat you rudely. Lesson learned.

Her excuse is the computer is down that was the excuse the last time I was here. Someone needs to get over here and get things running correctly. Three people have already walked out.

    9:00am

We were here visiting. I took my family member to the clinic inside Walgreens this morning to see a nurse. Now this clinic has nothing to do with Walgreens. We tried to sign in. But it the kios was not accepting. So he called the lady out. She come out frawning , had the worst attitude. He asked if he could be seen . She stated we are not taking any new patients. Then replied I have to set up. It’s after 9am. She should have already been set up. So we goes to over to CVS to be seen. No attitude, no rudeness. We had to go back to Walgreens to get our Rx filled. I have nothing against Walgreens, But this clinic , never again.

    A Waste of Time!

I first tried to access the Walgreens Healthcare Clinic closest to my house (in Lafayette), for a minor acute problem. I tried to log in at home the evening before to set an appointment, but the system didn't respond. I walked in the next morning & was told the next available appointment wasn't until mid afternoon. I used the kiosk there to schedule an appointment at the Broomfield Clinic about a half hour later. I got a confirmation number & drove 6+ miles to get there, only to find a sign posted saying the clinic was closed today. What a waste of time! I doubt my wife or I will ever access these clinics again.

    Be careful. Vaccination scam.

I went in to get my 12 year old daughter vaccinated for school because her regular doctor didn't have any appointments available. While we were there the NP asked me if I'd had my shingles vaccination. I told him no and he said he had just gotten his and that he would check my insurance to see if I was covered. He said I was. So I agreed to get it. A month or so later I get a bill for $233. Turns out I'm not 60 and I don't qualify for it. The clinic will not waive the cost and insists I pay the bill because I signed the financial responsibility form. Not only am I not paying, I am taking the matter up with the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General. Not only was I tricked into taking an unnecessary vaccination but, I'm pretty sure upselling medical procedures is illegal to begin with.

    Not in a wheelchair

My son needed a simple physical exam so he could go to camp just temp, b/p etc. they were ready to do it until they found out he was in a wheelchair. I tried to explain that his wheelchair would in no way interfere with what he needed but to no avail. So please before you shop there consider how they treat prospective customers they will certainly never get another penny of my money!!

    Ridiculously poor customer service

I made an appt for 10am and arrived at 9:48am. There was another lady waiting and had signed in for a walk in appt about 10 minutes before I arrived. At about 10:10 the other lady asked the people in the pharmacy if there was some working at the clinic. They said yes she was seeing someone and when we sign in a buzzer goes off in the clinic to let her know some one is here. At 10:22 she sticks her head out and says her buzzer didn't buzz. Guess who they take in first....the lady with the walk in. I will never come back here again. Oh, she was seeing anyone before we got here, thank you pharmacy personnel for being to lazy to check. I will never come back here again. I'm still sitting here waiting to be seen.

    Mr.

The nurse practioner working Friday 12-22-17 has an attitude and poor people skills. My wife had a appointment with her. The superior controlling attitude was an unpleasant experience for my wife. We will not be back to visit this location for fear we might encounter her again.
