Franciscan Urgent Care in Michigan City

I have been here for me or my adult son a number of times - the doctors, the receptionist, the nurses are AWESOME! Professional, patient, efficient. We moved from Chicago to Michigan City 2 years ago and this is one of the best resources found here in MC so far.

A waste of time and money!!!

I visited this clinic this morning with a sore throat, pounding head and symptoms of a cold. I walked in and the lady at the counter took my now 50 dollar co-pay because it's "urgent care".
I was just there in April and it wasnt 50 dollars then. When I'm waiting to get in to see the doctor the lady at the counter gets two large deliveries. The driver asks where she wants them and she proceeds to go on ranting and swearing about how no one tells her anything and she doesn't know where they should be dropped and just to put them wherever because it's not her job. I finally get called in the room go through the normal questions meet with the Doctor tell her I'm sick and getting on an airplane Wednesday I have two extremely busy days at work. Needless to say after over an hour and a half of wasting my time and 50 dollars she told me to take over the counter medicine. My flight on Wednesday morning should be FUN. This place is a waste of time I would never go back there again. I thought they would've been more helpful since I'm going out of town and on an airplane.

    Not happy with service provided.

My 19 yr old daughter went on her birthday with a nasty cough. They proceded to do a strep test on her. She doesn't have tonsills the chances of getting strep are slim to none without tonsills. She left with a script for cough medicine, which did absolutely nothing for her. They couldn't even tell her what was wrong with her " well it could be the flu or just a sinus infection" I believe there is a difference. She is going to her regular Dr. today. A Johnson Memorial Dr.I'm sure he will be able to tell her what the problem is.
I love that you just do tests knowing full well that you are just raping the insurance company for more money. That is why our co-pays and premiums are so high. Thanks so much for doing absolutely nothing. I will never recommend your facility again. We will stick with Dr's who know how to diagnose an illness. Dr. Name was Stuart Guerrettaz.

    Don't go here

The medical assistant was extremely friendly, but the nurse practitioner was awful. She rushed me through my visit. She never read my chart. She never even checked me out or even looked at my ears or throat. Basically going here was a waste of time. I googled the medicine that my primary dr had already prescribed for me and basically learned I was having a horrible reaction to the medicine. This so called NP didn't even bother to learn what my Dr had already put me on. She basically said I was already being treated and needed to wait 3 days before I feel better. Thankfully it's not life threatening, but I could have lost my hearing if I continue the medicine. Will be calling my dr in the morning. Wouldn't take anyone here. If I need after hours care I will just go to the ER. Awful service.

    Nurse Practitioner

I was seen today for a recheck, I initially smashed my hand a week ago and still in a lot of pain and 2 of my fingers are numb. I have had great experiences here in the past until today the NP was rude didn't introduce herself, I had to ask to have another X-ray. I asked which OTC meds would work best and she snapped at me and said she wasn't prescribing any meds and I didn't ask her to as the dr from last week already did. I was just asking what to use to supplement between the doses. She didn't even look at my hand which is still really swollen and bruised all over

    Not Again I Won't

My quality rating of “5” here is a reflection upon the/this particular doctor I saw, Manish Mannan, MD, and the doctor alone. Bear in mind that the doctor will rotate; no way of knowing (that I‘m aware of, and really now, when you’re sick, who has time to fight the system AND the illness) who will be the doctor you see when you go in.

The doctor knew what he was doing, actually listened, made sense, and made the effort to understand. I did not walk out with a prescription, but that’s not why I went there, I went there for a reasoned medical opinion and I got one. An infection of some type was ruled out for the time being, and the multiple symptoms I was experiencing were determined to be a result of more than one thing going on, which would have indicated something much more serious had all my symptoms been attributable to one cause. I was relieved and pursued the issues with my usual care providers the following week.

As for the rest of the folks in the operation? I’ll never go back there again. Rude, pushy, condescending, too busy with their own cackling and office banter, you’re obviously a commodity they are pushing down an assembly line and the less involved they must be with actual human beings, the better. But hey, everybody got paid, and in our health"care" system, isn’t that what everything’s really all about.
