STAT MED Urgent Care, Lafayette: In-Clinic Visit - 3799 Mount Diablo Blvd, Lafayette
Thank goodness for the kind people at Stat Med. My 81 year old husband tested positive with a home kit the day before Christmas. Couldn't get into John Muir Health or his doctor. We "walked" into Stat Med and had our test, plus a consult with a doctor, in 2 hours. We applaud their dedication to serve our community!

Carbon Health Urgent Care, Alameda, Bridgeside Center - 2671 Blanding Ave
Wait time was good, got in at 1:40pm for my 1:30pm appointment. Staff was friendly and explained things to me. I did kind of get the impression that they were tired of me because I was trying to ask clarifying questions to make sure that later on I will not be thinking about the questions I was afraid to ask :P. It’s very easy for me to just accept what I’m told, and not ask anything, but I’m trying to learn to advocate for myself because it seems like that’s what is needed in healthcare. But I could tell they were definitely getting tired of me asking my dumb questions and just repeating answers they already gave because I was obviously didn’t hear it the first time. I probably need to work on my communication skills because I don’t feel like either of us felt like we were getting through to the other person. It felt like we both felt like we knew what the other person was saying and that they just weren’t willing to hear it.

Then be called in to wait again for vitals then wait again for the doctor.., to do all this with a toddler is absolutely impossible that my only complaint

Dr Fitzpatrick was thoughtful and attentive and did what tests she could. Her diagnosis of pneumonia was not confirmed by the staff at CPMC, however. It seems I have some sort of infection, maybe more than one—perhaps bronchitis for one. The high pulse rate was due to dehydration. BTW the X-ray copy I took to the hospital was incompatible with its system. Nonetheless I appreciate the care I was given at Carbon.

Getting Tested for STDs in Orinda, CA

Who should get tested for STDs?

Everyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, regardless of their sexual orientation or marital status. However, certain groups are at a higher risk and should be more vigilant about regular testing. These include individuals with multiple sexual partners, those who engage in unprotected sex, men who have sex with men, and individuals who use intravenous drugs. According to the CDC, sexually active women under the age of 25, or older women with risk factors such as new or multiple sex partners, should be tested annually for gonorrhea and chlamydia.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a crucial aspect of maintaining good sexual health. Many STDs, like chlamydia and gonorrhea, can be asymptomatic, meaning they show no symptoms. If left untreated, these infections can lead to serious health complications, including infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, and increased risk of contracting HIV. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of complications and preventing the spread of the disease to others.

Std testing options in Orinda, CA:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are a convenient option for STD testing in Orinda, CA. One highly-rated nearby clinic is CityHealth in Oakland, CA, which boasts a 5.0 rating and is praised for its short wait times, friendly staff, and clean facilities. Another option is Carbon Health in Berkeley, CA, with a 4.25 rating. Both clinics offer same-day and next-day appointments which can be booked through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another reliable option for STD testing. They can provide continuity of care and follow up on treatment. If you have a good relationship with your primary care provider, you may feel more comfortable discussing your sexual health with them.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or who are concerned about cost, free STD testing may be available at community health centers in and around Orinda. It's important to check with each center about their testing capabilities and any costs that may be associated.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing is another convenient option. These tests can be ordered online, done in the privacy of your own home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are usually available online within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Orinda

Orinda, located in Contra Costa County, has seen a rise in STD cases in recent years, mirroring the national trend. According to the CDC, the most common STDs in the area are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. While these numbers are concerning, they are still lower than those in nearby counties such as San Mateo County and Washoe County.

Risk factors related to STDs in Orinda

Several risk factors contribute to the prevalence of STDs in Orinda. These include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and lack of regular testing. Additionally, stigma and lack of awareness about sexual health can also contribute to the spread of STDs. It's important for residents to understand these risks and take proactive steps to protect their sexual health, such as using protection, getting regular tests, and seeking treatment if diagnosed with an STD.
